Accreditation
Immaculate Conception School is accredited by the Michigan Association of Non-Public Schools. Our preschool and childcare is fully licensed through the State of Michigan.
Curriculum
Kindergarten through eighth grade utilizes the Diocesan curriculum for all five content areas (theology, mathematics, social studies, English language arts, and science). The curriculum is developed using Understanding by Design (UbD). UbD is a nationally recognized, highly regarded protocol for planning and unit design. The primary goal of UbD is student understanding: the ability to make meaning of “big ideas” and transfer their learning. Assessment of student progress is done using teacher observation and a triangulation of data, including standardized testing, DIBELS, and unit tests. Early Elementary students also utilize Catechesis of the Good Shepherd as an extension of theology.
Although developmental in nature, our preschool follows the State of Michigan Early learning Expectations for 3 and 4 year olds. The preschool religion program, Catechesis of the Good Shepherd, is presented to each preschool classroom once weekly.
